Mudroom

Space.  A girl can never have enough SPACE.  Can I get an AMEN!?!?

Apparently people that grew up in the 1950's didn't own a lot of crap like we of the ME generation.  Therefore, closets and storage weren't a big deal and there wasn't a lot of them in the houses they built at the time.  Well, nothing against the Pink Ladies and T-Birds but this just doesn't work for me.  Especially when it comes to living in northern Minnesota and walking into my house with 20 pounds of clothing on and having no where to put it, much less have a space to stand in to take it off.

We decided we needed a mudroom.  And we made one.

So I'm going to try and explain this and be descriptive as possible... Bear with me.  Or is it bare with me?  I don't know.  Whatever.

On the left you can see the gray door. This is the door to our house from the outside.

When you walk into the house, you would either take 2 steps and go down the stairs to the basement...

Or turn to your right and go up 2 steps into the kitchen...

When you would turn to your left, there was just a wall.  Actually, it wasn't a wall,  It was a sealed up door that was the original entry into the house when the present day living room was the garage.  You follow me?  Good.  I'm better at this than I thought.

So we knocked out the sealed up door, added a new wall in the living room and made it smaller to create the mudroom.  Tah-dah!  Genius I tell you....

New wall is on the left

The boys at Northland built us another nice piece... STORAGE SPACE!

The End.
