Basement

Here are some "kind of" before photos... Remember earlier I said the basement was bare bones when we moved in.  And it was.  There was a wall of 2x4's running down the center of the basement where you now see an actual wall.

My laundry room....

The hallway.  On the left is the closet containg the furnace, non-functioning chimney and the hot water heater.  On the right is a closet my super husband built.

This is.. I don't know.  A weird nook that I'm gonna do something really cool with.  I just don't know what yet.  But it'll be cool.  I promise.

View from the really cool nook looking at the stairs and the other half of the basement.  This would probably be a good opportunity to introduce you to our first born, Patsy.  She's our Boston Terrier and my shadow named after Patsy Cline, the best singer that has ever walked Planet Earth.

View from the other end of the hallway.

So this is an archway we put in where it was all 2x4's.  This is a load-bearing wall and when we opened it up and took out some of the 2x4's, we replaced them with a steel header.  I helped put it up and it was REALLY heavy.  But I'm strong.  I guess my brother-in-law Reed helped too... I should probably give credit where credit is due.  The door you see leads to the bathroom.  Our second bathroom.  Might I add that I lived in this house for NINE YEARS with ONE bathroom.  Am I looking for a pat on the back?  Pretty much.

And here is the other side of the basement that will be the kids playroom and family room.

The miniature doorway you see there is not a secret underground passageway or a panic room.  Nor is it a bomb shelter.  It is the old cistern for the house that we bulldozed a doorway into and turned it into a storage room.  That was a really fun project creating that doorway through a 12 inch concrete wall with a diamond blade saw that had a broken water spicket on it so Milissa held the hose while Ryan cut and was being splattered with dirty water and sparks in a small enclosed space...  Someone really needs to figure out a sarcastic font.

The other header we installed.  Reed did NOT help with this one.  Just me and super hubby.  I sometimes amaze myself.
